Exercise to Improve Cognitive Function in Veterans With MCI

What Is This Study About?

This study will assess the use of a home-based exercise intervention to improve memory in veterans with mild cognitive impairment (MCI), a precursor to Alzheimer's disease. Participants will be randomly assigned to either home-based exercise or health education. Researchers will compare changes in memory over a six-month time period using memory tests.

Do I Qualify To Participate in This Study?

Minimum Age: 50 Years

Maximum Age: N/A

Must have:

  • Amnestic MCI
  • Ability to use a telephone without assistance

Must NOT have:

  • Chest pain
  • History of heart attack in past six months
  • History of ventricular dysrhythmia (a type or irregular heart beat) requiring current therapy
