Indiana University Dementia Screening Trial

What Is This Study About?

This study will assess the harms and benefits of screening for dementia, compared to no screening for dementia, among 4,000 older adults cared for in primary care practices at Wishard Health Services and Indiana University in Indianapolis.

Do I Qualify To Participate in This Study?

Minimum Age: 65 Years

Maximum Age: N/A

Must have:

  • At least one office visit to a primary care physician within the previous year
  • No previous diagnosis of dementia or memory problems
  • Ability to communicate in English

Must NOT have:

  • Permanent resident of a nursing facility
  • Serious mental illness such as bipolar disorder or schizophrenia
  • Pre-existing diagnosis of dementia or cognitive impairment
