Remote Training To Reduce Stress and High Blood Pressure in African American Women

Start: Jan. 17, 2023
End: May 2024
Enrollment: 28

What Is This Study About?

This study will explore the effectiveness of a remote caregiver training program to reduce blood pressure, stress, and improve overall well-being for African American women who are dementia caregivers. Participants will be randomly divided into two groups with identical training except that one group will also receive dietary education. All participants will attend eight one-hour group telehealth training sessions for two months, along with coaching calls twice a month for two months. At the start of the study, three months, and nine months, researchers will measure each participant's blood pressure and collect a small hair sample to measure the stress hormone cortisol. Participants will also answer questions about their stress levels, stress management practices, eating and exercise habits, depression, anxiety, overall well-being, and experience with the training.
