Longitudinal Study of APOE and the Risk of Alzheimer's Disease

Start: May 1, 2021
End: June 30, 2026
Enrollment: 300

What Is This Study About?

Different variants of the apolipoprotein E (APOE) gene have been associated with different levels of risk for developing Alzheimer's disease. This long-term study will gather data in cognitively normal older adults and compare cognitive, behavioral, and physical changes across different APOE variants, or genotypes. Once a year, participants will provide blood samples for clinical lab analysis and genetic testing. Every two years, participants will provide cerebrospinal fluid samples, undergo positron emission topography (PET) and MRI brain scans, and complete a series of tests to assess cognitive function, risk factors, and other measures.
