Online Training for Alzheimer's Caregivers

What Is This Study About?

This study will test the effectiveness of an online program, Learning Skills Together (LST), in increasing the confidence and practical skills of family caregivers of someone with mid-stage Alzheimer's. The study will begin with a video call to familiarize each caregiver with the program technology and to establish personal goals for the training. Participants will then attend four, 90-minute, group-based online training sessions over two weeks. One month later, participants will attend a group reflection session to discuss their experiences applying the new skills and progress in meeting personal goals.

Do I Qualify To Participate in This Study?

Minimum Age: 18 Years

Maximum Age: N/A

Must have:

  • Family member (including families of choice, such as close friends or partners) to a person diagnosed with mid-stage Alzheimer's disease
  • Assists the care recipient with at least two activities that support independent living, such as shopping or transportation, or one activity of daily living, such as dressing or feeding
  • No plans to place the care recipient in a skilled nursing facility within the next three months

Must NOT have:

  • Receives payment to provide care to the person with Alzheimer's disease
  • No reliable access to a computer and internet
  • Unable to read and speak English
